The Cafe at Annandale Distillery, also known as The Maltings Coffee Shop is a firm favourite for both locals and visitors to the region, looking for a bite to eat. Located just outside of Annan and within quick reach of the A75 and M74, it's easy to get to in the East of the region.
The Maltings sits within the Distillery itself, where you can buy the whisky and also go on various tours (although we can't comment on them as we haven't been on them!). It is lovely to see the buildings restored and improved, as before the opening in 2014 it was a lot less polished looking!
However, since its opening The Maltings has become a solid lunch option. The sandwiches and burgers are solid, and there is a good selection for breakfast too.
If you are thinking of visiting, there are a couple of things worth noting. One is the parking, although there is parking on the site it sits at the road end (exception for accessibility), so there is a few minutes walk down to the distillery itself. It's worth having a coat / similar to throw on.
Secondly, it can be worth booking via the website, as it can quite busy.
Overall, The Maltings is a good option for lunch and helps contribute to Annandale and Eskdale's great food reputation!
