About

Who are we
Hello, we are Matt and Kathryn - we started Visit Dumfries and Galloway because we love this wee slice of Scotland, adventuring and taking photos.

Kathryn was born and raised in a wee hamlet outside of Lockerbie, and lived for some time in Carsluith over in Kirkudbrightshire.

Matt moved over from Northern Ireland in 2015, with Scotland firmly his second home now.

Visit Dumfries & Galloway
We decided to start Visit D&G over Christmas 2019 after living and working in Oxfordshire for a couple of years and doing the typical "not knowing what you've got until its gone".  We missed the space, the sea and the hills so packed up our two dogs and returned to bonny Scotland.

Now that we were back up North we were back to exploring and adventuring and we decided to highlight DumGal because we feel it really is an overlooked gem of Scottish countryside.  We wanted to share What to Do, Places to See, Where to Stay and some of the best Food and Drink in the hope that more visitors from within and outside the region explore and support local businesses.

Areas we cover: Annandale, Dumfriesshire, Eskdale, Machars, Nithsdale, Rhins of Galloway, Stewartry of Kirkudbrightshire, Wigtownshire.

We are always open to learning more about the region, so if you have any suggestions please let us know!  Or if you are a business or brand would like to discuss working together click here.
